1. Appointed from a True Story

House of Gucci is based on Sara Gay Forden’s book, House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Charm, and Greed. One such story is the 1995 murder of Maurizio Gucci. The murder caused turmoil in Italy at the time. Maurizio is heir to the Gucci dynasty, which is known as the epitome of luxury. However, Gucci is also known as a family with internal conflicts due to power struggles and possessions. On March 27, 1995, Maurizio was shot dead by an assassin on the steps of his office as soon as he arrived there for work. Two years later, Maurizio’s ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani was arrested on suspicion of being behind Maurizio’s murder. Patrizia’s motives are said to be jealousy, money, and revenge on Maurizio. Prosecutors also alleged that Patrizia may have dominated the Gucci property and tried to prevent Maurizio from marrying Paola Franchi.
